Luna Valley Farm
Luna Valley Farm
Seasonal Wood Fired Pizza and Grass Fed Beef and Lamb

Decorah’s Destination for Wood-Fired Pizza and Grass Fed Beef and Lamb

On our certified organic farm we use regenerative farming practices to grow food for our community, protect soil and water for future generations and provide a happy life for our 100% grass fed cattle and sheep.

We get a little excited about good food. We love sharing our food and farm with the community on pizza nights when we cook up some of the tastiest wood fired pizzas around, using ingredients that we’ve grown in our beautiful valley.

Come out to the farm. Congregate. Connect. Indulge in good food and community.

Welcome to our farm

PIZZA NIGHTS

Homegrown wood-fired pizza, local drinks and community in a tucked-away setting.

Bringing people together over good food is our passion. Our wood-fired pizza provides us an opportunity to share ingredients we’ve grown here on our farm or sourced from our veggie farmer friends. We invite you out mingle with the locals in “Decorah’s Backyard.” Come wander the field roads, relax and reconnect over our artisan pizza.

GRASS FED BEEF

Our 100% grass fed beef is raised with love for our animals, soils, waterways and future generations.

Our cattle are born on pasture in the spring and spend their entire lives outside, grazing sweet forages on our small farm.

We would love the opportunity to be your farmers!
Let’s work together to bring our regeneratively raised 100% grass fed beef to your table!

GRASS FED LAMB

Our 100% grass fed lamb is raised with love for our animals, soils, waterways and future generations.

Our lambs are born on pasture in the spring and spend their entire lives outside, grazing sweet forages on our small farm. We would love to bring our regeneratively raised 100% grass fed lamb to your table!

Meet our family

MAREN BEARD
(Pizza Farmer)

After a youth spent in rural Wisconsin, Maren attended Luther College in Decorah where she studied Environmental Studies and Spanish. She fell in love with the area and went on to earn a Masters of Science in Sustainable Food Systems and joined the team at Luther College as the Assistant Director for the Center for Sustainable Communities where she worked for ten years on issues related to campus sustainability. These days Maren works full time on the farm!

Maren spends a lot of time in the kitchen during the week, making dough, rolling dough balls and preparing pizza ingredients using our wood-fired oven. You’ll usually spot her behind the bar greeting customers on pizza nights.

TOM BEARD
(Farmer)

Growing up just a half mile up the road from Luna Valley Farm on his parent’s Organic Valley dairy farm, Tom always knew he wanted to farm. He built upon his experience with organic dairy farming in college where he studied agriculture.

Tom keeps busy caring for our cattle and sheep and loves taking Fritz and Otto with him whenever he has the opportunity! In 2021 we were humbled to be named as our region’s Conservation Farmers of the Year for practices like rotational grazing and flood mitigation. When he’s not farming, Tom plays pizzaiolo, cooking every single wood-fired pizza that gets served on our pizza nights.

FRITZ AND OTTO BEARD

Fritz and Otto have the most important job on our farm - helping us slow down and enjoy the present moment. Our kids love helping check on the cattle and sheep and are always game for outdoor adventures! Their presence in our lives helps us stay motivated to keep making the world a better place for future generations. (Fortunately they already seems to have developed a taste for our wood fired pizza!)

Community impact

Thank you for sustaining our small farm so we can continue to show love to our soils, waterways, animals, community and future generations.

By eating our pizza and sourcing our grass fed beef and lamb, you’re helping us protect soil and water resources, and encouraging the growth of deep-rooted grasses. We are developing a regenerative agricultural system that aims to give more than it takes.
