THE LOWEST PAIR

with special guest, Little Fevers

Join us for a relaxing Sunday afternoon on the farm with The Lowest Pair and Minneapolis-based Little Fevers. Bring your picnic blankets, friends, kids and dancing shoes to soak up some farm fresh tunes! We are thrilled to welcome these incredible musicians to this valley for an afternoon of music, food and community.

THE LOWEST PAIR

The Lowest Pair has questions. The duo, made up of Kendl Winter and Palmer T. Lee, know that we tend to see duality as a problem. We want life to be linear, working through the dark to finally get to the light. Grief to joy, despair to hope, confusion to clarity––not a jangly cycle we can’t escape. But through their incandescent folk songs, the Lowest Pair often ask: What if we sit with the mess? What if that’s not just more peaceful, but more magical, too?

On their 8th album Always As Young As We’ll Ever Be, the Lowest Pair prove that over the last dozen years together, they’ve become some of modern roots music’s most mesmerizing, thoughtful purveyors. Produced by Tucker Martine (The Decemberists), the 10-track album puts the duo’s stark lyricism, string-driven arrangements, and raw compatibility on brilliant display and as a result, Always As Young As We’ll Ever Be pulses with life.

The Lowest Pair’s musicianship is another beautiful testament not just to playing that breathes, but playing that listens. Winter, who grew up in Arkansas but has lived in Washington State for the last two decades, and Lee, a Minnesota native, first gained attention as poetic singer-songwriters on banjos. While their family of strings has expanded, their fundamental approach hasn’t: Respond to sounds and stories the other is making.

LITTLE FEVERS

Little Fevers is an indie-pop group from Minneapolis fronted by songwriter Lucy Michelle.

In 2013, Lucy Michelle, Eamonn McLain, Ashley Boman, and Geoff Freeman were the remaining founding members of the folk-pop orchestra, Lucy Michelle & The Velvet Lapelles. After seven years of recording and touring, with families and careers blossoming, the Velvet Lapelles parked the touring van and disbanded.

Their friendship and love of creating music inspired them to try a new direction. So in 2014, they traded their acoustic instruments for electric guitars and synthesizers. Reflecting their new sound, they adopted a new name, Little Fevers, and soon were tracking new songs in both Brooklyn and Minneapolis. Their debut record, Field Trip, was released in 2015, blending their electric indie sound with new wave influences.

Lucy explained the band’s evolution, “When we were in our twenties, we had more money to go on the road and release records because we didn’t have as much life responsibility. Little Fevers has been our passion project.”

When keyboardist Ashley Boman moved to New York, Little Fevers welcomed Chris Koza (Rogue Valley) on guitar. And following a hiatus after Lucy’s second child arrived, the band released their  7-inch entitled Singles in 2017.

In 2019, following Koza's departure, Little Fevers enlisted guitarist Paul Puleo (Knife World and Southside Desire) and completed work on their second record Strangers, with Zachary Hollander at Pearl Recording Studio. The new record is a dreamier affair than we’ve heard from the group — continuing a journey of artistic exploration and camaraderie that the members of Little Fevers have pursued now for more than 13 years.

In winter of 2023 the band recorded a brand new EP with Tim Evenson of Pleasure Horse, entitled Singles Vol. 2. This thoughtful batch of tunes was released in spring 2024 and ruminates on themes of love, storytelling, generations, and time passing.

Rucksack Revolution

with special guest, Between Howls

Join us for a relaxing Sunday afternoon on the farm with Rucksack Revolution and Duluth-based Between Howls. Bring your picnic blankets, friends, kids and dancing shoes to soak up some farm fresh tunes! Sarah Vos has played on our farm three times with the Dead Horses and this will be Adam Greuel’s first time here. We are thrilled to welcome these incredible musicians to this valley for an amazing afternoon of music, food and community.

RUCKSACK REVOLUTION

Bio's sure are a funny thing. Sometimes the band writes them for themselves, other times they pay a bunch of money to have a professional do it. Well, instead of that whole hoopla, I'm just going to explain why I think Sarah and I find serious amounts of joy in making music together. We met back in the early days of Dead Horses and Horseshoes & Hand Grenades. Those are our two "main bands", ya know, our day jobs. Anyhow, we immediately hit it off and became friends. I think there was a sense of musical and life curiosity, as well as mutual respect, that drew us together. That feeling led to us hanging out at my college rental house in Stevens Point. We started playing music together and there was this wonderful and immediate sense of chemistry. The floors were wooden, and I think that made the sound sparkle a little bit too. That really was the first night of "Rucksack Revolution".

Since then, our friendship and our music have grown and created some great nights of music and magic. Sometimes we play songs we've recently written, other times we play songs from Dead Horses or Horseshoes, and sometimes we even play songs we've never played for anyone before. Sometimes we feel real high, sometimes we feel real low. I think we take comfort and pride in the acceptance that we have for one another and I think that creates a relaxed feeling that can lead to some beautiful sounds. In the spring and summer of 2021, we decided to go to a recording studio and lay down some music that was uniquely us. It feels like that experience drew us musically closer yet and I feel great, and grateful, about what we created. People are always asking about the future and the past, but sometimes it's best to just see what is, right now. When we get together, we try to embrace that moment and hope that the folks that come around can join us in that. I think Sarah's a wonderful songwriter, a great human, and a dear friend. I really, really enjoy making music with her. How's that for a damn bio? -Adam Greuel

Side Note: Rucksack Revolution will be releasing a new album in August 2026…right before the show at Luna Valley and this will probably be their only show in Iowa this year.

BETWEEN HOWLS

Between Howls (Duluth, MN / Superior, WI) are violinist Ren Howl & guitarist Nick Howl. The husband & wife duo’s unique blend of vocal harmonies, thoughtful lyrics and virtuosic instrumental arrangements have been drawing in audiences across the US since 2018.

Nick & Ren met while attending college at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. After a fateful late-night jam on a cold night in January, they decided to play a show together. One turned into two, and two into about two-hundred between the winter of 2018 and the spring of 2020.

In June of 2021 the Howl’s relocated to the Los Angeles area and spent three years based out west. While in California they recorded two albums with the rock group One Less Guest, were a part of two subsequent tours with the band, and collaborated on numerous projects with other artists in music & film. Most notably providing the soundtrack to the 2022 short film, The Pool Boy. When talking about what inspired them to make the leap into doing music full time, Nick & Ren often credit the amazing friends and memories they made during their time in California.

Less than a year after their return to Wisconsin, the duo released Between Howls debut album; and in the spring of 2025 embarked on a two-and-a-half-month tour in support of the record. The Cabin Fever Tour featured 23 stops along a 7,000 mile route winding through the Rocky mountains, along the Pacific ocean, and across the great midwest.

Also on the road that spring was Nashville country/soul artist, Kashus Culpepper. Ren joined Kashus on violin & vocals opening for r&b artist Leon Bridges in Missouri and Colorado. Ren also joined Kash in New York for CBS This Morning’s nationally televised segment, Saturday Sessions, and for his set at Stagecoach Music Festival.
